Da Wants Private Sector To Help With R700 Million G20 Summit Budget

G20 Summit: DA wants private sector to sponsor R700m budget

Western Cape provincial chairperson of the Democratic Alliance (DA), Albert Fritz, has called on the private sector to partner with government in hosting a successful G20 Summit in Cape Town next year.

The South African government is expected to spend R700 million on hosting the summit, which will be held from 16 to 17 July 2023.

Fritz said the private sector could assist with sponsorship in various areas, such as accommodation, transport, and hospitality.

He said the G20 Summit was an opportunity for the Western Cape to showcase its capabilities to the world.

“The private sector has a vital role to play in ensuring that the summit is a success,” Fritz said.

Fritz said the DA would also be working with the City of Cape Town to ensure that the summit was a success.

“We will be working with the city to ensure that the summit is well-organised and that it leaves a lasting legacy for the city,” Fritz said.

He said the DA would also be working with the national government to ensure that the summit was a success.

“We will be working with the national government to ensure that the summit is well-funded and that it is properly planned,” Fritz said.

He said the DA was confident that the summit would be a success.

“We are confident that the summit will be a success and that it will be a positive experience for all involved,” Fritz said.
