Bryson Stott Not in Lineup Sunday

Stott dealing with left shoulder discomfort

Bryson Stott will not be in the lineup Sunday for the Philadelphia Phillies against the visiting New York Mets.

Manager Rob Thomson said before the game that Stott is dealing with some left shoulder discomfort.

Stott left Saturday's game in the 6th inning

Stott left Saturday's game against the Mets in the sixth inning after making a diving stop on a ground ball by Starling Marte.

Stott was replaced at shortstop by Edmundo Sosa, who will start again Sunday.

Stott's absence a blow to Phillies

Stott has been one of the Phillies' most consistent hitters this season, batting .295 with two home runs and 24 RBIs in 61 games.

He is also a Gold Glove-caliber defender at shortstop.

Phillies hope Stott's absence is short-lived

Thomson said he is hopeful that Stott's absence will be short-lived.

"We're just going to give him a day off today and see how he feels tomorrow," Thomson said.

"Hopefully, it's nothing too serious and he'll be back in the lineup soon."
