Peter Navarro, Former White House Aide, Reports to Prison

Contempt of Congress Sentence Marks Historic Moment

Navarro: From Democratic Candidate to Trump Adviser

Peter Kent Navarro, born July 15, 1949, is an American economist who served in the Trump administration first as Deputy Assistant to the President and director. Previously, he had run for office five times as a Democrat before his 2001 marriage to single mom LeBon Navarro.

As an ex-White House aide to former President Donald Trump, Peter Navarro has recently reported to a federal prison in Miami. He becomes the first White House aide to be imprisoned for contempt of Congress.

Navarro's political aspirations initially led him to run for office rather than become an adviser. However, he ultimately served as a trade adviser to Donald Trump.

Navarro was sentenced to four months in prison and fined $9,500 for contempt of Congress. This sentence follows his refusal to cooperate with a subpoena related to the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.
